Confirm what IVT means on the offer
Kia China’s 2026-model release pairs the 1.5L engine with IVT. That reference establishes a dated market configuration; it does not establish the transmission installed in every Seltos. Ask the supplier to connect the offer to production details and the appropriate technical identification.
The engine and transmission overview also covers other combinations. If a listing uses CVT as a broad description, have the actual application confirmed rather than treating that word as sufficient parts information. A changed or replaced unit should have supporting records explaining what is now fitted.
Request a usable observation report
Ask the assessor to record ordinary start-up, direction selection, setting off and driving across appropriate speeds. Include the conditions and whether any unusual vibration, delay, noise or warning appeared. A brief edited video cannot show every relevant condition and should not be presented as a complete inspection.
The report should distinguish the driver’s observations from a workshop diagnosis. A change in engine speed may prompt a question, but a remote viewer should not identify a fault solely from a soundtrack. Where behaviour is disputed, request a qualified assessment that names the concern and the next check needed.
Read the maintenance detail
Look for dated invoices tied to the vehicle and distance readings. Ask whether the applicable transmission maintenance was considered, what work was completed and which specification the workshop used. Do not assume that an engine-oil service included transmission work because the invoice heading says full service.
Use the maintenance record review to identify gaps without inventing a universal interval. Operating conditions and the correct vehicle guidance matter. Missing history is uncertainty to price and investigate; it is not proof that the transmission failed, nor a reason to describe its maintenance as complete.
Keep warning and repair history visible
Ask about earlier symptoms, workshop visits and component replacements. Request available reports before and after any repair, with enough context to understand what was diagnosed and verified. A present display without warning lights does not, by itself, establish that an earlier concern was permanently resolved.
If the seller says a unit was replaced, clarify whether the claim refers to a complete assembly or a smaller component. Record the source, work date, mileage and any stated support. Have a suitable workshop interpret technical documents; an attractive replacement claim has limited value when its scope is unclear.
Compare a finished job rather than a part
Where work is recommended, obtain a written scope covering diagnosis, parts, labour, required completion procedures and verification. Ask who will perform it and whether the receiving provider can support that specific application. A price for a broadly named CVT does not establish a complete remedy for the car’s reported concern.
Keep planned work separate from completed work in the used-vehicle inspection file. If the offer depends on preparation, agree which evidence closes the condition before acceptance. A promise to fix anything later leaves the dealer without a clear basis for pricing or explaining the car to a customer.
Decide whether the uncertainty is acceptable
Consider two otherwise comparable cars: one has traceable maintenance and a satisfactory current assessment; the other costs less but has a repeated delay awaiting diagnosis. The difference cannot be evaluated using the purchase price alone. Obtain the missing scope or leave the second candidate conditional.
Conversely, a customer may simply prefer another transmission’s driving response. Treat that as a suitability decision rather than labelling a healthy IVT defective. A short list can include different configurations as long as their actual equipment, condition and support requirements remain clearly described.
Specify the evidence you need from Panda
For a used IVT enquiry, provide destination, quantity, accepted years and the inspection requirements that matter to your business. Ask for the configuration record, available maintenance documents and any disclosed repair history alongside the quotation. State whether unresolved transmission concerns exclude a candidate.
Retain the assessed vehicle identity when the proposal changes. If a replacement candidate or a different gearbox is introduced, the previous inspection does not transfer to it. Review that car’s records and commercial terms separately before approving preparation, shipment or a customer-facing description.
