What does 2027 identify?
Kia America uses the 2027 model-year name for its all-new Seltos. Kia China's July 2026 introduction describes the second-generation all-new Seltos for China. These references provide different market contexts; the English year label alone does not establish that a China-sourced car matches an American specification or equipment package.
Ask the supplier to state the original sales market, production date, official vehicle designation and the basis of the advertised year. Keep those entries separate in the shortlist. A registration date, production date and model-year label can refer to different events. The earlier-versus-all-new comparison explains how to avoid treating every car advertised in the same calendar year as the same version.
Describe the car before comparing options
Request a readable vehicle identifier and original specification evidence for the proposed unit. Then confirm steering position, engine, transmission and the equipment that matters to the customer. A manufacturer's foreign-market page can explain that market's product, but cannot fill missing fields in a different vehicle's offer. Leave those fields unresolved until the supplier provides appropriate evidence.
Use a stable reference in messages and document names. This is particularly important when several visually similar cars are being considered. The supplier should be able to connect a photograph, build description and quotation to the same candidate. If the candidate changes, its replacement needs a fresh record rather than inheriting the previous car's acceptance.
Keep newer technology in its market context
A global model launch can introduce features that are offered differently across markets. Do not assume a powertrain or connected function mentioned in a US release is included in a China proposal. The useful question is whether the actual vehicle has the requested system and whether its use can be supported where the customer will receive it.
The powertrain guide and connected-feature review treat those questions separately. Engine identity needs technical records; an online service may also need provider and regional confirmation. A modern screen or an exterior badge is not evidence that every advertised function from another market will be present and usable after export.
How should a new 2027 enquiry be written?
State New as the condition preference, then explain whether the customer requires a particular official model-year designation or simply the newest suitable generation. Include the intended market, quantity and essential features. That distinction gives the sourcing team room to explain a verified China-market proposal without incorrectly relabelling it as an identical US-market vehicle.
New-car discussions still need production, registration and delivery-condition information. An enquiry does not establish availability of the exact requested version, and a launch announcement is not a Panda stock list. The new and used guide explains the evidence appropriate to each condition and why unused status should not be inferred from a low odometer reading alone.
How should older alternatives be presented?
If an earlier Seltos could meet the budget or equipment requirement, show it as a distinct alternative with its own year basis and condition. Do not let a newer-style photograph accompany an older car's description. The comparison should explain the actual difference in body, cabin, documented mechanical configuration and evidence, rather than suggest that only the advertised year has changed.
For example, a dealer may prioritise a specific cabin function over a model-year label. An earlier candidate might still be relevant if the buyer expressly accepts it and its equipment is verified. Another dealer may require the all-new generation. Both requests are workable when the supplier understands which requirement determines acceptance and which preference can be discussed.
What belongs in the final description?
Retain the verified market, production evidence, designation and condition with the accepted specification. If the buyer uses 2027 in its own sales process, make sure the underlying records support the description being communicated. Do not resolve an unexplained naming difference by choosing whichever label is likely to attract more interest from customers.
The final vehicle file should make it possible for another member of the dealer team to understand the proposal without reconstructing every conversation. Attach unresolved limitations and agreed checks as well as positive findings. A clear version description supports quotation, inspection and handover; it does not itself establish destination eligibility or guarantee that a different-market vehicle can be substituted.
