01

Establish what each model name identifies

Request the original-market designation, production evidence, body and condition for both offers. If a supplier uses an export-market name for another regional designation, ask for supporting identity records rather than assuming the labels are equivalent. Do not create a specification sheet by combining the most attractive details from several regional brochures.

The Seltos market guide explains why year labels also need context. Keep the Hyundai candidate's designation just as precise. Two vehicles offered during the same calendar year may belong to different generations or specification schemes. Stable candidate references prevent photographs and amounts from being carried between visually similar proposals during a remote comparison.

02

Keep one functional requirement list

Specify the passenger arrangement, bags, parking situation and phone method the buyer actually needs. Compare the offered cars against those essentials before trim names. An impressive option list is less useful than a demonstrated function that solves a daily requirement. The Seltos equipment checklist can frame the questions without pretending that Hyundai package contents match Kia's.

For both candidates, record factory evidence, later changes and current operation separately. A system fitted to one version cannot be assumed on another because the screen or controls look familiar. If a function is unresolved, leave the corresponding field pending. The dealer should be able to see why one candidate satisfies the brief and where a proposed alternative requires a compromise.

03

Compare the whole passenger and parking routine

Assess rear occupants with the same stated front-seat position, then test the actual luggage arrangement. Keep personal comfort observations qualified to the people and conditions assessed. The adult-seat review helps avoid photographs staged with a front seat in an unusually favourable position. Nominal dimensions alone cannot establish the customer's full journey.

Apply the same garage and access constraints to each car. A useful camera or foldable mirror should be verified independently from physical fit. Do not describe either vehicle as automatically easier to drive or park for every customer. If the routine cannot be demonstrated, retain the dimensional evidence and the remaining limitation. This gives the buyer a clear next assessment rather than a brand-led assurance.

04

Review powertrain and support without assumptions

Identify the installed engine, gearbox and drivetrain for each proposal. Similar engine-size descriptions do not establish matching systems or maintenance needs. Ask receiving providers about the actual configuration and any assessed work. Keep new-car preparation separate from the condition history of a used candidate.

The quotation comparison guide aligns the purchase basis: vehicle, preparation, supplied items, currency and agreed delivery stage. Avoid universal durability, parts-sharing or low-cost maintenance claims. A provider should confirm suitable support and any replacement requirements for the specific car. Compare a finished scope with another finished scope, leaving uncertain work outside the confirmed amount until the responsible party supplies an answer.

05

Make the permitted alternative explicit

A buyer may prefer a Seltos but accept a Creta only if a particular phone method and passenger arrangement are demonstrated. Another may treat both as equal starting points and decide from individual condition. Record that distinction so sourcing does not silently change the customer's criteria while proposing a cheaper car.

The Corolla Cross comparison addresses a different alternative when the shortlist genuinely includes it. Keep each model's identity intact and avoid making every compact SUV interchangeable. If the chosen candidate changes, review the replacement's own configuration, condition and amount. The final dealer file should explain the accepted model and supported differences without unsupported claims of universal superiority or equivalence.

06

A practical shortlist example

For a dealer willing to source either model, create one acceptance sheet before selecting the cheaper offer. Suppose the customer requires a demonstrated phone connection and a particular adult seating arrangement. Record those requirements against both cars and leave missing evidence pending. A desirable colour or screen cannot silently replace either mandatory function.

If a supplier describes the Hyundai candidate through another regional model name, resolve the identity and supporting records before comparing its brochure details. Do the same for the Seltos generation. Price the finished accepted scopes in the same currency and at the same delivery stage. The dealer can then select a supported proposition without advertising two differently identified compact SUVs as mechanically equivalent or interchangeable solely because they occupy a similar market position.

Buyer questions

Are Seltos and Creta mechanically identical?

Do not assume that. Establish the actual market, generation and installed systems for each offered vehicle.

Should the cheaper advertised car win?

Only after comparing the same requirements, condition evidence and completed commercial scope.
